If you still have any doubt, read this: the Dark Tranquility is an excellent and satisfying metal album. But when you put it up against Norma Jean, its flaws suddenly surface. It's too clean, too easy, and too many of its rough edges have been sanded down to a shiny polish. "Meridional" has all kinds of rough edges... but it also has layers and subtlety and palpable angst. It puts "We Are The Void" to shame. Norma Jean rules!
