Today's battle was surprisingly tough. Multiple listens to each album in its entirety, which of course means I'm in a good mood and my ears are ringing.
The thing about the Atheist is that it's crazy. Crazy like Sadus used to be crazy. So that's oddly titillating. At the same time, the album shreds, it's super technical, and it's weirdly yet undeniably catchy. At the same time, the Bison BC is undeniably powerful stuff. And ultimately, it's the second half of "Dark Ages" that gives Bison BC the edge over Atheist. Barely. We'll see next week if they've got what it takes to bodycheck The Acacia Strain.
Meanwhile, Dark Tranquility vs. the Dillinger Escape Plan duke it out tomorrow.
